Moving house can be a very demanding time for anyone. In order to minimise stress it will help you to plan ahead. Here are some helpful tips to try and make the whole process easier. Three weeks prior to moving
Get several quotes on removal van hire.
If you choose to go with a removal firm it might be worth having a few firms come round to your house to give you a quote on the job.
Start packing non-essentials into boxes such as ornaments, books, and pictures.
Have your post redirected to your new address from the day you move in.
One week prior to moving
Pack a box full of your most precious items to take in your car to avoid any breakages in the removal van.
Consider taking out insurance for 'goods in transit'.
During the day of the move

Start early; the move will take a lot longer than you expect it to.
Be sure to label all of your boxes to avoid confusion when you get to the new place.
Make sure you only give instructions to the person in charge of the removal team and keep them happy by providing them with tea & biscuits!
Final things before you go
Make sure you don't leave any windows or doors unlocked.
Check with the new owners to make sure you have fulfilled everything you agreed.
Leave your new address in case the new owners get any post that was meant for you.
We hope these tips have helped!
